USA EB5 Programme

March 27, 2020 nkic

A new approach to visa processing will come into effect on March 31, 2020, which aims to speed up processing times for under-represented countries.  Going forward, EB-5 I-526 petitions will no longer be processed in the order received, but instead processing will favour applicants from countries where visas are immediately available.  So, applicants from countries which are currently backlogged (e.g. China, Vietnam, and India) will face an additional waiting time, while applicants from countries without a backlog will be processed first.

Confederation’s new EB-5 project is now available:

  • Hyatt Fort Lauderdale Phase II. – 11 units available at USD $998,675 ($900,000 investment, plus all fees)
  • Job creation requirement has already been met/exceeded
  • Construction will be completed in 2020
  • Phase II investors’ capital will replace 8% of developer’s equity; no minimum EB-5 raise required
  • Applicant will receive a full refund after 5 years, plus 2% interest ($USD $990,000), so the applicant’s net cost is just  $8,675

Under EB5, there is no language requirement, no age limit, and no management experience requirement.  Applicants must have a net worth of minimum $1 million USD, and be able to document the source and path of funds for the investment and fees.  Refused Quebec and Canadian investor cases are welcome to apply to EB5.

Note: the EB-5 investment level increased to USD $900,000 in November, 2019.

March 27, 2020 nkic
Due to local closures/restrictions related to the COVID virus, a temporary travel ban on non-citizens entering Canada, and a mandatory 2 week isolation period for anyone entering Canada, PEIPNP has cancelled all interviews and landing appointments for March and April, 2020.  We expect to receive further updates in the coming weeks, as the virus situation evolves.  We have already contacted those people directly effected, and we look forward to re-scheduling their appointments once the situation is under control.

Please refer to the COVID section at the top of this email for general information and websites you may find useful.

The PEI PNP allows an applicant family to move to PEI on a Work Permit, and run a local business for 1 year before applying for permanent residence status.  Applicants must have a net worth of at least CAD $600,000, and be able to prove that it was earned through their own endeavors.

The applicant must be between ages 21 and 59, have completed grade 12 education, have minimum 3 years (in the past 5 years) of management experience, invest CAD $150,000 in a local business, and possess basic proficiency in English or French (CLB 4). The Government draws Work Permit clients from the EOI pool each month.

The March 19, 2020 draw has been cancelled, re the COVID-19 virus.

Confederation has strategies to maximize EOI scores for its clients and, as a result, our clients have higher overall scores and a greater likelihood of selection.
